The chairperson and founder of the Hua Xian Chinese Society, Sam Moi Chan, received her honour from Prince Charles at an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace, London.
She joins as a Member of the British Empire (MBE) in recognition of her work in community cohesion.
Around 25 investiture ceremonies are held every year, in the ballroom at Buckingham Palace, at Windsor Castle or at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh. The ceremonies are presided over by Her Majesty the Queen, the Prince of Wales or the Princess Royal.
Sam Moi Chan was joined on the day by her son and Project Manager of the Hua Xian Chinese Society – Raymond Chan – and former secretary of the charity – Sibyl Chen – as members of the audience.
